1962: Ed Kranepool makes his major league debut in the Mets' 9-2 loss to the Cubs.

1967: Jerry Buchek hits two 3-run homers to give the Mets an 8-5 win over the Astros in the second game of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium.

1970: Tommie Agee hits a two-run single in the ninth inning for a 7-6 Mets win over the Phillies at Philadelphia.

1973: The Mets increase their division lead to a full game with a 2-0 win over the Cardinals at Shea Stadium. Jon Matlack pitches a shutout and Wayne Garrett homers for the game's only runs.

1974: Jon Matlack ties a team record with his seventh shutout of the season in a 4-0 Mets win over the Pirates at Pittsburgh. In the game, Matlack singles and drives in two runs.
