Ruben Tejada is an infielder for the Mets. He was signed as a free agent during the 2006 season. Tejeda joined the Mets at the major league level in 2010.

In ’10, Tejada appeared in 78 games with the Mets. He collected 46 hits and was hit by a pitch team-leading eight times. At Citi Field on April 9, Ruben singled for his first major league hit and scored his first run in the Mets’ 8-2 win over the Nationals. He had a double and an RBI in 4-3 and 6-1 Mets victories over the Marlins at Citi Field on June 4 and June 5, respectively. Tejada had a single and two runs scored in a 14-6 Mets triumph over the Tigers at Citi Field on June 22. He hit his first major league homer and drove in five runs in the Mets’ 18-5 win over the Cubs at Chicago on September 5. Ruben also had three hits (the last of which was a two-run double in the ninth inning) in a 4-3 Mets victory over the Brewers on September 28 at Citi Field.

Tejada had a .284 batting average in 2011. He compiled 110 total bases and drove in 36 runs during the season. Ruben singled three times and scored a run in the Mets’ 7-3 win over the Pirates at Citi Field on May 30. Three days later, he drove in three runs with a single and a sacrifice fly in a 9-8 Mets triumph over the Bucs. Tejada had ten hits in 23 at-bats during a seven game hitting streak from June 4 to June 11. At Detroit on June 29, he had a pair of singles in a 16-9 Mets victory over the Tigers. Ruben hit a two-run double in the Mets’ 5-3 win over the Dodgers at Los Angeles on July 6. He batted .533 (8-for-15) in a five game hitting streak between August 15 and August 20. Tejada singled twice, doubled and scored a run in the Mets’ 6-0 win over the Braves at Citi Field on August 26. He had a single, a double, a stolen base and four RBIs in a 7-5 Mets triumph over the Braves in Atlanta on September 18. Ruben also hit a game-tying, two-run double in the ninth inning for the Mets’ 8-6 comeback win over the Cardinals at St. Louis on September 22.

In 2012, Tejada emerged as the Mets’ regular shortstop. In 114 games played, he batted .289 and scored 53 runs. Ruben a pair of singles, doubles, runs scored and RBIs in the Mets’ 7-5 win over the Braves at Citi Field on April 8. He hit a two-run double and scored the winning run in the ninth inning in a 5-4 Mets victory over the Giants at Citi Field on April 21. Tejada had ten singles and scored five runs in a three-game series against the Rockies at Colorado from April 27 to April 29. He singled twice, doubled and scored two runs in a 17-1 Mets rout of the Cubs on June 27 at Chicago. Ruben had three singles, a double and two runs scored in the Mets’ 9-0 win over the Dodgers at Los Angeles on June 29. At Citi Field on July 3, he singled three times and scored twice in an 11-1 Mets victory over the Phillies. Tejada had a pair of singles and his only homer of the season in the Mets’ 2-1 win over the Giants at San Francisco on August 1. He singled, doubled and scored two runs in a 9-5 Mets triumph over the Phillies in 10 innings at Philadelphia on August 28. Ruben singled home the winning run in the ninth inning for a 3-2 Mets victory over the Marlins on September 23 at Citi Field. He had four singles, a stolen base and two RBIs in a 6-0 Mets win over the Pirates at Citi Field on September 26. Tejada also had two singles and a double in the Mets’ season-closing 4-2 triumph over the Marlins on October 3 at Miami.

In 2013, Tejada hit a run-scoring single that put the Mets ahead to stay in a 7-5 win over the Braves in 10 innings at Atlanta on May 3.

In 2014, Ruben had two RBI singles and a pair of runs scored in the Mets' 4-0 victory over the Braves at Atlanta on April 8.
