Team: Seattle Mariners
Sent: Rey Sanchez
Received: Kenny Kelly

The Mets and Mariners made a trade during the 2003 season. Shortstop Rey Sanchez was sent to Seattle in exchange for outfielder Kenny Kelly. Sanchez was a 13-year major league veteran who had played for seven different teams. Kelly was a AAA-level player who had one major league at bat with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2000.

Kelly never played for the Mets. In '03, he batted .261 in 30 games with the Mets' AAA-level team in Norfolk. Kenny was released by the team in 2004.

Sanchez had a .294 batting average in 46 games with the Mariners over the rest of the '03 season. He then joined the Devil Rays as a free agent.
