1964: The Mets pound out 17 hits, including five home runs, in a 15-5 win over the Cardinals at St. Louis. The game drops the Cards into a first place tie in the National League standings.

1972: The Mets sweep a doubleheader with 5-2 and 4-3 (in 12 innings) wins over the Expos at Montreal.

1990: The Mets defeat the Pirates, 6-3, in the season closer at Pittsburgh. Frank Viola records his 20th win of the year.

1992: Dwight Gooden pitches a four-hitter and hits a triple in a 2-1 Mets win over the Pirates at Shea Stadium.

1993: The Mets win their sixth consecutive game with a season-closing 9-2 victory over the Florida Marlins in Miami.

2001: Steve Trachsel pitches a two-hit shutout in a 3-0 Mets win over the Pirates at Shea Stadium.

2004: The Mets defeat the Expos, 8-1, at Shea Stadium. It is the final game in the career of Todd Zeile and for the Montreal team before its relocation to Washington, DC.

2009: Pat Misch and four relievers team up in a seven-hitter as the Mets defeat the Astros, 5-1, at Citi Field.

2012: In the season finale, the Mets hit three home runs for a 4-2 win over the Marlins at Miami.
