Mike Pelfrey was a pitcher for the Mets from 2006 to 2012. He recorded 50 wins in 153 games with the team. Pelfrey had 506 strikeouts as a Met.

Pelfrey was a first round pick of the Mets in the 2005 draft. He joined the team during the ’06 season. In his major league debut on July 8, Mike was the winning pitcher in the Mets’ 17-3 rout of the Marlins in the second game of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium. He also hurled six innings for the win in an 8-3 Mets victory over the Reds at Cincinnati on July 18.

In 2007, Pelfrey made 13 starts and two relief appearances with the Mets. He had three wins and 45 strikeouts during the year. At Atlanta on September 1, Mike pitched six innings of one-hit ball for the win in the Mets’ 5-1 victory over the Braves. He hurled five and one-third innings, scored a run and got the win in an 11-3 Mets triumph over the Astros on September 7 at Shea. Pelfrey also pitched five innings for the win in an 8-4 Mets victory over the Nationals at Washington on September 19.

Mike had 200 and two-thirds innings pitched in 2008. He chalked up 13 wins and posted a 3.72 earned run average for the season. At Shea on April 15, Pelfrey pitched seven scoreless innings for the win in the Mets’ 6-0 victory over the Nationals. He hurled five and two-thirds innings of three-hit scoreless ball and chalked up the win in a 3-1 Mets triumph over the Rockies at Colorado on June 22. Mike had six strikeouts in seven innings pitched, hit a run-scoring single and recorded the win in the Mets’ 11-1 romp over the Cardinals at St. Louis on July 3. He pitched eight scoreless innings for the win in a 7-0 Mets victory over the Rockies on July 13 at Shea. Pelfrey hurled six and two-third innings for the win in the Mets' 6-5 victory over the Padres at Shea on August 5. He had seven scoreless innings pitched for the win in a 2-1 Mets triumph over the Pirates at Pittsburgh on August 15. Mike had an RBI single and recorded his first major league complete game in a 6-3 Mets victory over the Braves on August 20 at Shea. He also had a complete game win in the Mets’ 9-1 triumph over the Astros at Shea on August 25.

In 2009, Pelfrey led all Mets pitchers with 31 starts. He compiled a team-leading 184 and one-third innings pitched during the season. At Cincinnati on April 8, Mike was the winning pitcher in the Mets’ 9-7 victory over the Reds. He hurled five and two-thirds innings for the win in an 8-2 Mets triumph over the Nationals at Citi Field on April 25. Pelfrey drove in two runs and chalked up the win in a 7-4 Mets victory over the Phillies at Philadelphia on May 1. He had seven innings pitched and got the win in the Mets’ 7-5 victory over the Phillies on May 7 at Citi Field. Mike compiled seven and two-thirds scoreless innings for the win in a 1-0 Mets win over the Brewers at Milwaukee on July 1. At Citi Field on July 12, he pitched seven innings and got the win in the Mets’ 9-7 victory over the Reds. Pelfrey had six and one-third scoreless innings pitched for the win in a 4-0 Mets victory over the Rockies at Citi Field on July 28. He had five strikeouts in six innings pitched and chalked up the win in the Mets’ 4-2 triumph over the Phillies on August 21 at Citi Field. Mike also hurled eight innings, singled and scored a run in a 4-2 Mets win over the Cubs at Citi Field on September 6.

Mike had a team-high 204 innings pitched in 2010. He led the Mets with 15 wins and 33 games started during the season. At Citi Field on April 9, Pelfrey hurled six innings for the win in the Mets’ 8-2 victory over the Nationals. He pitched seven scoreless innings with six strikeouts, had an RBI single and scored a run in a 5-0 Mets triumph over the Rockies at Colorado on April 15. At Citi Field on April 20, Mike pitched three-hit ball over seven innings for the win in a 4-0 Mets triumph over the Cubs. He hurled five innings for the win in a rain-shortened 1-0 Mets victory over the Braves at Citi Field on April 25. Pelfrey was the winning pitcher in a 5-3 Mets victory over the Yankees at Citi Field on May 22. He hurled seven innings of three-hit scoreless ball for the win in a 3-0 Mets victory over the Phillies on May 27 at Citi Field. Mike recorded eight strikeouts in eight innings pitched in the Mets’ 4-2 win over the Padres at San Diego on June 1. At Citi Field on August 10, he pitched seven scoreless innings and chalked up the win in a 1-0 Mets victory over the Rockies. Pelfrey hurled eight scoreless innings to earn the win in the Mets’ 2-1 triumph over the Astros on August 27 at Citi Field. He also pitched seven innings and hit a run-scoring single that put the Mets ahead to stay in a 6-2 win over the Pirates at Citi Field on September 16.

Pelfrey led the Mets with 33 starts once again in 2011. He recorded seven wins and 105 strikeouts for the year. On April 22, Mike had seven innings pitched for the win in the Mets’ 4-1 victory over the Diamondbacks at Citi Field. He hurled seven and two-thirds innings and scored a run in a 5-2 Mets win over the Giants at Citi Field on May 5. Pelfrey pitched six and two-thirds innings and hit a two-run double to put the Mets ahead to stay in a 4-3 win over the Rockies at Colorado on May 10. He had a complete game five-hitter in a 6-1 Mets victory over the Angels on June 18 at Citi Field. Mike pitched six scoreless innings for the win in the Mets’ 6-0 triumph over the Dodgers at Los Angeles on July 5. He hurled a complete game in an 8-2 Mets win over the Reds at Cincinnati on July 27. Pelfrey also pitched six innings and recorded the win in a 7-4 Mets victory over the Phillies at Philadelphia on August 24.

After three starts in 2012, Pelfrey was sidelined for the rest of the year with an injured elbow. He joined the Minnesota Twins as a free agent after the season.
