The Mets acquired pitcher Mike Torrez from the Red Sox in January of 1983. Torrez was a major league veteran of 16 seasons and brought experience to a young Mets team. Minor league third baseman Mike Davis went to the Boston team in exchange for Torrez.

Torrez pitched in a total of 48 games for the Mets. He had an 11-22 won-lost record and a 4.47 earned run average. Mike was released by the Mets during the 1984 season. Davis never reached the major league level.
