The Mets faced the Dodgers on a Wednesday afternoon in Los Angeles. The teams played the finale of a three-game series. The Mets pounded out a total of thirteen hits in a 12-1 win.

Following a scoreless first inning, Ryan Church and Angel Pagan got back-to-back singles with one out in the top of the second. Marlon Anderson doubled to bring home Church with the first run of the game. Raul Casanova hit single that scored Pagan and Anderson and advanced to second base on John Maine's sacrifice bunt. Jose Reyes drew a walk and Luis Castillo singled to plate Casanova for a 4-0 Mets lead. Dodgers' starter Brad Penny struck out David Wright to end the inning. For the Mets, Maine pitched a perfect bottom half.

Carlos Beltran got a leadoff single in the top of the third. Beltran moved to third base on a single by Church and scored on Pagan's force play ground ball to second baseman Jeff Kent. Penny set down the next two New York batters to close out the inning and Maine yielded just a double to Chin-lung Hu in the bottom half. Penny held the Mets to a two-out double by Castillo in the top of the fourth. Maine then retired the side in order in the bottom half.

Church was hit by a pitch with one out in the top of the fifth inning. Endy Chavez went down on strikes and Anderson got an infield single. Casanova drew a walk to load the bases and Maine singled to drive home Church and Anderson. Reyes walked to reload the bases and Los Angeles reliever Scott Proctor issued a walk to Castillo that forced home Casanova. Wright hit a double to drive home Maine and Reyes with Castillo advancing to third. A wild pitch brought home Castillo to increase the Mets' lead to 11-0. Proctor retired Beltran on an inning-ending ground ball to Kent. Maine then shut down the Dodgers in the bottom half.

Church homered for the Mets' twelfth run to begin the top of the sixth. Chavez flied out to center fielder Matt Kemp and a strikeout of Anderson ensued. Casanova hit a double for the thirteenth New York hit of the game. Proctor fanned Maine for the third out and John set down all three Dodgers hitters in the bottom of the inning. For Los Angeles, Chan Ho Park hurled a perfect top of the seventh. Maine then retired the side 1-2-3 in the bottom half.

After a scoreless eighth, Park set down the Mets in order in the top of the ninth. Pinch-hitter Andruw Jones doubled to lead off the bottom of the inning. Juan Pierre drew a walk and Andre Ethier flied out to left fielder Chavez. Kemp hit a single to score Jones with the Dodgers' first run. Duaner Sanchez came in to pitch for the Mets and got Delwyn Young to hit a force play grounder to third baseman Wright. Sanchez then struck out James Loney to end the game. The Mets had a solid victory to finish off the series.
