1962: Gil Hodges hits a two-run single in the 12th inning to give the Mets a 7-5 win over the Phillies at Philadelphia. It is the first extra-inning victory in team history. Roger Craig records the Mets' first save.
1964: The Mets lose to the Reds, 12-4, in first night game at Shea Stadium.
1966: Cleon Jones hits a home run in the ninth inning to give the Mets a 2-1 win over the Cubs at Shea Stadium. Rob Gardner pitches a complete game for his first major league win.
1970: The Mets and Tom Seaver beat Don Sutton and the Dodgers, 5-4. Cleon Jones hits a solo homer and Bud Harrelson scores three runs. It is the Mets' 15th straight win in games started by Seaver.
1976: The Mets defeat the Reds, 4-2, at Shea Stadium. For the second time in the three-game series, reliever Skip Lockwood strikes out Cincinnati's Johnny Bench in the clutch and earns a save.
1983: The Mets defeat the Reds, 7-4, in 13 innings. Four late home runs provide for an amazing comeback.
1986: Dwight Gooden pitches a two-hit shutout and hits a two-run triple in a 4-0 Mets win over the Astros at Shea Stadium.
1988: Darryl Strawberry hits a two-run homer in the 10th inning to give the Mets a 4-3 win over the Reds at Shea Stadium. Darryl drives in all the Mets' runs in the game.
1990: The Mets sweep the Astros, 7-4 (11 innings) and 7-6, in a doubleheader at Shea Stadium. In the first game, John Franco gets his first win as a Met. Kevin McReynolds hits game-winning home runs in both the opener and the nightcap.
2003: Tony Clark and Vance Wilson hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning of a 3-2 Mets win over the Dodgers at Shea Stadium.
2004: The Mets complete a sweep of a three-game series with a 2-1 win in 11 innings over the Giants at Shea Stadium.
2006: The Mets defeat the Braves, 6-5, at Shea Stadium. Starting pitcher Victor Zambrano injures his right elbow in the second inning and never pitches for the Mets again.
