1968: Ed Charles hits two home runs to give the Mets a 2-1 win over the Pirates at Shea Stadium. Charles' second homer comes in the bottom of the ninth inning.
1972: The Mets sweep a doubleheader with 3-1 and 2-1 wins over the Phillies at Philadelphia.
1979: The Mets defeat the Cardinals, 8-7, in 11 innings. St. Louis scores three runs in the top of the tenth, but Richie Hebner hits a three-run homer in the bottom half to retie the game. Frank Taveras singles in the eleventh to win it for the Mets.
1981: The Mets defeat the Giants, 4-3, in San Francisco to end their 9-game losing streak.
1983: Neil Allen pitches his first major league shutout as the Mets defeat the Dodgers, 4-0, at Shea Stadium.
1984: Kelvin Chapman and George Foster drive in runs with sacrifice flies in the 10th inning for a 4-2 Mets win over the Padres at San Diego.
1987: The Mets score six runs in the fourth inning and defeat the Padres, 10-3, at Shea Stadium.
1999: The Mets sweep a doubleheader from the Brewers, 11-10 and 10-1, at Shea Stadium. In each game, Robin Ventura hits a grand slam to become the first player in major league history to achieve such a feat.
2000: After building up an eight-run lead, the Mets hold for an 8-7 win over the Diamondbacks at Shea Stadium.
2001: The Mets defeat the Dodgers, 6-5, at Shea Stadium. A run-scoring single by Tsuyoshi Shinjo wins it for the Mets in the ninth inning.
2006: The Mets lose to the Yankees 5-4 in 11 innings after Billy Wagner blows a 4-0 lead in the top of the ninth.
2011: Four Mets pitchers combine for eleven strikeouts in a 2-1 win over the Yankees.
