Matt Harvey is a pitcher for the Mets. He joined the team in 2012.
Harvey was called up to the Mets from AAA-level Buffalo during the '12 season. In his major league debut on July 26, he struck out 11 batters in five and one-third innings, singled, doubled and recorded the win in a 3-1 Mets victory over the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
In 2013, Harvey had ten strikeouts and allowed one hit in seven innings for the win in the Mets' 8-4 victory over the Padres at Citi Field on April 3. At Philadelphia five days later, he stuck out nine batters in seven innings for the win in a 7-2 Mets triumph over the Phillies. Matt pitched eight innings of two-hit ball for the win in a 4-2 Mets victory over the Twins at Minnesota on April 13. He hurled seven innings for the win as the Mets defeated the Nationals, 7-1, on April 19 at Citi Field. Harvey pitched one-hit shutout ball with twelve strikeouts for nine innings (facing only 28 batters) in a 1-0 Mets win over the White Sox in 10 innings at Citi Field on May 7. He had a run-scoring single that put the Mets ahead to stay in a 3-2 win over the Cubs at Chicago on May 17. Matt struck out thirteen batters and chalked up the win in the Mets' 4-3 victory over the Braves in a doubleheader opener at Atlanta on June 18. He hurled six innings and hit a run-scoring double in an 8-0 Mets win over the Phillies on June 23 at Philadelphia. Harvey struck out ten batters in seven innings for the win in the Mets' 5-0 victory over the Phillies at Citi Field on July 21. He also pitched a four-hit shutout in a 5-0 Mets win over the Rockies on August 7 at Citi Field.
After missing the 2014 season, Harvey recorded wins in each of his first five starts in 2015, the last of which he had seven scoreless innings pitched in a 4-0 Mets triumph over the Nationals at Washington on May 1. Matt struck out nine batters in seven innings and got his sixth win in the Mets' 6-2 victory over the Diamondbacks at Arizona on June 4. He hurled seven shutout innings for the win in a 3-2 Mets triumph over the Blue Jays on June 16 at Citi Field. Harvey chalked up nine strikeouts in seven innings for the win and hit a two-run homer in a 4-2 Mets victory over the D'Backs at Citi Field on July 11. He pitched seven innings and drove in two runs in the Mets' 15-2 rout of the Dodgers at Citi Field on July 25. Matt had seven innings of two-hit scoreless ball for the win in an 8-6 Mets triumph over the Marlins at Miami on August 5. He hurled eight shutout innings for the win in the Mets' 4-0 victory over the Rockies at Citi Field on August 11.
