Marlon Byrd was an outfielder for the Mets in 2013.

After eleven seasons with five major league teams, Byrd signed with the Mets as a free agent. In '13, he hit a pair of run-scoring singles in an 11-2 Mets win over the Padres in the season opener at Citi Field on April 1. Marlon singled home two runs in the ninth inning to give the Mets a 4-3 victory over the Marlins on April 7 at Citi Field. He had two singles and two RBIs in a 16-5 Mets triumph over the Twins at Minnesota on April 12. One day later, Byrd homered to put the Mets ahead to stay in a 4-2 win over the Twins. He had a single, a homer and two RBIs in a 9-4 Mets victory over the Yankees on May 29. Marlon hit a two-run homer in the Mets' 3-1 win over the Yanks on May 30. He drove in three runs with a pair of homers in a 10-1 Mets triumph over the Nationals at Washington on June 5. Byrd hit a home run to ignite a ninth-inning rally that led to a 4-3 Mets victory over the Cubs on June 16 at Citi Field. He slugged a two-run homer in the eighth inning for a 3-2 Mets win over the Rockies at Colorado on June 27. Marlon hit a grand slam in the Mets' 10-6 triumph over the Giants at San Francisco on July 9. He hit a two-run double that put the Mets ahead to stay in a 4-1 win over the Padres at San Diego on August 15. Byrd also slugged a two-run homer in the Mets' 5-3 victory over the Braves on August 20 at Citi Field.

On August 27, 2013, Byrd was traded with John Buck to the Pirates for Vic Black and Dilson Herrera. He joined the Phillies in 2014.
