Luis Ayala

Luis Ayala was a relief pitcher for the Mets in 2008. He made 19 appearances out of the bullpen for the team. Ayala recorded one win and nine saves as a Met.
In ’08, Ayala was acquired by the Mets from the Washington Nationals on August 17. At Shea Stadium on August 21, he pitched one and one-third scoreless innings for the win in a 5-4 Mets victory over the Braves. Luis struck out two batters in a perfect ninth inning for a save in the Mets’ 3-0 win over the Astros on August 22 at Shea. At Milwaukee on September 2, he had a pair of strikeouts in a scoreless 10th inning for a save in a 6-5 Mets triumph over the Brewers. Ayala pitched a pair of perfect ninth innings for saves against his former Nationals team in 10-8 and 13-10 Mets victories at Shea on September 9 and September 10, respectively. He also recorded the final two outs for a save in the Mets’ 6-2 win over the Cubs on September 23 at Shea.
Ayala joined the Minnesota Twins as a free agent in 2009. He split the ’09 season between the Twins and Marlins before spending 2010 in the minor leagues. Luis pitched for the Yankees in 2011. He joined the Baltimore Orioles in 2012.
