The Mets and Orioles made a deal in 1994. Infielder Kevin Baez and pitcher Tom Wegmann were sent to Baltimore in exchange for first baseman-outfielder David Segui. Baez had been in the Mets' system for the previous six years and played in 63 games with the parent club. Wegmann was at the Triple-A level. Segui was a four-year major leaguer with the Orioles.

Segui played in 125 games for the Mets in 1994 and 1995. He batted .257 with 12 home runs and 54 RBIs with the team. David was traded to the Montreal Expos for pitcher Reid Cornelius during the '95 season.

Baez played the '94 season in the Orioles' minor league system. He did not return to the major leagues. Wegmann spent three seasons in the Baltimore system and never reached the majors.
