The Mets and Astros made a trade after the 1974 season. Infielder Ken Boswell went to Houston in exchange for outfielder Bob Gallagher. Boswell played in 681 games and hit .250 for the Mets over the previous eight seasons. Ken was a member of the team's pennant winners in 1969 and 1973. Gallagher had a .225 batting average in 180 major league games played over three seasons.

Gallagher appeared in 33 games for the Mets in 1975, none of which he was in the starting lineup. He had a single and a double in 15 at bats with the team. Bob was dealt to the Giants in March of 1976 and never played in the major leagues again.

Boswell played in 249 games for the Astros from 1975 to 1977. He batted .242 with 51 RBIs with the Houston team to conclude his major league career.
