Team: Kansas City Royals
Sent: Justin Huber
Received: Jose Bautista

The Mets and Royals made a trade just one day before the deadline in 2004. First baseman Justin Huber went to Kansas City in exchange for outfielder Jose Bautista. Huber was in his fourth season as a Mets' minor league prospect while Bautista was a major league rookie.

Bautista never got to suit up for the Mets. Immediately after the deal, he was sent to the Pittsburgh Pirates in a five-player deal. Huber had a .204 batting average in 38 games over three seasons with the Royals.
