1965: The Mets sweep a doubleheader, 5-2 and 6-3, against the Braves at Shea Stadium.

1972: Tom Seaver strikes out ten batters in a 3-2 Mets win over the Phillies at Philadelphia.

1980: The Mets sweep a doubleheader with 2-1 (in 11 innings) and 5-4 wins over the Phillies at Philadelphia.

1983: The Mets defeat the Cardinals, 10-1, with a 19-hit attack in the opener of a doubleheader at St. Louis. The game is the first at Busch Stadium for Keith Hernandez since being traded to the Mets by the Cardinals. Hernandez gets three of the Mets' hits and Hubie Brooks goes 5-for-6.

1990: The Mets begin a four-game series with a 5-4 win over the Reds at Shea Stadium.

1995: The Mets score five runs in the eighth inning for an 8-3 win over the Marlins at Florida.

1998: Luis Lopez hits a sacrifice fly to score Carlos Baerga in the ninth inning to give the Mets a 2-1 win over the Yankees at Shea Stadium.

1999: Robin Ventura hits three-run homers in the fourth and fifth innings of a 10-4 Mets win over the Marlins at Florida.

2010: R.A.Dickey gets his first Mets loss in the team's 10-3 defeat to the Florida Marlins in Puerto Rico. Dickey had won his first six decisions as a Met.

2011: Jason Bay and Carlos Beltran hit grand slams in consecutive innings in a 14-3 Mets win over the Tigers at Detroit.

2014: The Mets defeat the Pirates, 5-3, at Pittsburgh. Jeurys Familia and Jenrry Mejia combine for three perfect innings of relief to end the game.


  • In the completion of a suspended game, the Mets defeat the Reds, 2-1, in 13 innings at Citi Field.
  • In his major league debut, Steven Matz collects three hits, drives in four runs and records the win in a 7-2 Mets victory over the Reds at Citi Field.
