Koehler hurled a perfect top of the fifth. With one out in the bottom of the inning, Marcell Ozuna drew a walk and Ed Lucas singled. Koehler followed with a bunt on which catcher Taylor Teagarden threw to third baseman Wright for a force out on Ozuna. Koehler gave up just a double to Wilmer Flores in the top of the seventh. DeGrom pitched a scoreless bottom of the inning and Miami reliever Chris Hatcher retired the side in order in the top of the eighth. Stanton got a one-out infield single against New York’s Jeurys Familia in the bottom half. Familia got McGehee on a double play grounder to shortstop Flores for the inning’s final outs and Wright doubled to begin the top of the ninth. Duda slugged a homer to increase the Mets’ lead to four runs. Chris Young hit a single and Flores flied out to right fielder Stanton. Hatcher then got Teagarden on a force play ground ball to McGehee and struck out pinch-hitter Bobby Abreu to finish off the inning.
