Curtis Granderson singled against Dodgers' starter Mike Bolsinger to lead off the top of the first inning. Daniel Murphy hit a single to advance Granderson to third base and Lucas Duda lined out to second baseman Howie Kendrick. Wilmer Flores singled to drive home Granderson for a 1-0 Mets lead. Bolsinger struck out Michael Cuddyer and retired Johnny Monell on a fly ball to left fielder Scott Van Slyke to end the inning. Enrique Hernandez got a leadoff single against Matz in the bottom half. Kendrick and Justin Turner were struck out and Adrian Gonzalez was hit by a pitch. Matz then got Yasiel Puig to hit a force play ground ball to shortstop Ruben Tejada for the inning's third out.

After scoreless second and third innings, Monell singled to begin the top of the fourth. Johnny moved to third base on Tejada's single and came home on Matz's ground out to Kendrick. Juan Lagares got a single and went to third on Granderson's double that scored Tejada. Murphy was walked intentionally to load the bases and Duda went down on strikes. Flores hit an infield single to plate Lagares and extend the Mets' lead to 4-0. Bolsinger got Cuddyer on a force play ground ball to third baseman Turner to close out the inning. Matz then surrendered only a walk to Van Slyke in the bottom half.

Bolsinger hurled a perfect top of the fifth. Matz yielded just a single to A. J. Ellis in the bottom of the inning and Los Angeles reliever J. P. Howell pitched a scoreless top of the sixth. Steven set down all three batters in the bottom half and Flores doubled against the Dodgers' Juan Nicasio to open the top of the seventh. Cuddyer was struck out and Monell drew a walk. Tejada hit a single to bring home Flores and a called third strike was thrown past pinch-hitter Darrell Ceciliani. Lagares followed with a triple to score both Monell and Tejada for a 7-0 Mets lead. Nicasio fanned Granderson for the final out of the inning. Verrett then retired the side in order in the bottom half.

Murphy singled against Los Angeles reliever Daniel Coulombe to begin the top of the eighth. Duda hit a force play grounder to Kendrick and went to second base on shortstop Hernandez's error. Flores doubled to drive home Duda with the Mets' eighth run of the game. Cuddyer flied out to right fielder Puig and a walk to Monell ensued. Tejada got a single that loaded the bases and Coulombe retired Verrett on an inning-ending ground ball to Kendrick. Logan then pitched a perfect bottom half.

Coulombe set down the side 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth. Turner singled for the Dodgers' third hit to lead off the bottom of the inning. Alex Guerrero hit a force play grounder to third baseman Murphy and a strikeout of Puig followed. Guerrero advanced to second base on defensive indifference. Verrett then got Andre Ethier to pop out to second baseman Flores and end the game. The Mets had a solid shutout victory.
