The Mets faced the Mariners on a Wednesday afternoon in Seattle. The teams played the finale of a three-game interleague series. Bartolo Colon pitched six and two-thirds perfect innings in a 3-2 Mets win.

Eric Young drew a walk against Mariners’ starter Taijuan Walker to begin the top of the first. Eric stole second base and scored on a double by Daniel Murphy for a 1-0 Mets lead. David Wright was retired on a fly ball to center fielder James Jones, after which Murphy advanced to third. Lucas Duda went down on strikes and Bobby Abreu walked. Walker got Chris Young on a pop-up to second baseman Robinson Cano for the third out. Colon then set down the side in order in the bottom half.

Colon and Walker each pitched scoreless and hitless ball from the second inning to the fifth. Bartolo retired all twelve Seamen to come to bat while Walker surrendered only a hit batter and a pair of walks. Wright singled to lead off the top of the sixth. Duda and Abreu drew back-to-back walks to load the bases and Walker was replaced on the mound by Seattle reliever Dominic Leone. Chris Young hit a ground ball on which third baseman Kyle Seager threw to catcher Jesus Sucre for an out at home on Wright. Juan Lagares followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home Duda and extend the Mets’ lead to 2-0. Leone got Anthony Recker on a force play grounder to Seager to close out the inning. Colon then set down the Mariners 1-2-3 once again in the bottom half.

Eric Young got a one-out single against Leone in the top of the seventh. Murphy drew a walk and Wright singled to drive home Eric Young for a 3-0 Mets lead. Duda and Abreu were retired on ground balls back to Seattle reliever Joe Beimel for the inning’s final outs. With two outs in the bottom half, Cano singled to become the first Seaman to reach base against Colon. Bartolo then got Seager to ground out to second baseman Murphy and finish off the inning.

Beimel and Mariners’ reliever Danny Farquhar combined for a perfect top of the eighth. Corey Hart drew a walk against Colon to open the bottom half. Logan Morrison flied out to left fielder Eric Young and a single by Dustin Ackley ensued. Brad Miller doubled to score Hart and reduce the Mets’ lead to 3-1. Against New York’s Jeurys Familia, pinch-hitter Willie Bloomquist grounded out to shortstop Eric Campbell to plate Ackley with the second run for the Seamen. Familia then struck out Endy Chavez to end the inning.

Farquhar set down the side in order in the top of the ninth. Cano singled against Mets’ reliever Jenrry Mejia with one out in the bottom half. Seager lined out to Eric Young and a single by Hart followed. Mejia then struck out Morrison to bring the game to an end. The Mets had series-closing victory.
