1983: Jose Reyes is born.

1986: The Mets defeat the Braves, 11-0, at Shea Stadium. Sid Fernandez pitches a two-hit shutout and gets three hits of his own. Gary Carter hits a three-run homer and a grand slam.

1991: Kevin McReynolds' run-scoring single in the ninth inning gives the Mets a 4-3 win over the Padres at Shea Stadium.
