John Maine was a pitcher for the Mets from 2006 to 2010. He had 39 wins in 97 games pitched with the team. Maine recorded 467 strikeouts as a Met.

Maine came to the Mets in a trade with the Orioles in ’06. He had a 6-5 won-lost record in the Mets’ division-winning season. At Shea Stadium on July 21, John pitched a four-hit shutout in a 7-0 Mets win over the Astros. He hurled six scoreless innings and got the win in an 8-1 Mets victory over the Phillies at Shea on August 6. Maine pitched six innings and chalked up the win in a 7-2 Mets victory over the Phillies on August 17 at Philadelphia. He had six and one-third innings pitched for the win in the Mets’ 8-3 triumph over the Phils at Shea on August 28. John pitched six and one-third innings for the win in a 4-2 Mets victory over the Astros at Houston on September 2. He was the winning pitcher in the Mets’ 12-6 triumph over the Nationals on September 23 at Shea. Maine also pitched five and one-third innings of two-hit ball for the win in a 4-2 Mets victory over the Cardinals in Game 6 of the National League Championship Series at Shea on October 18.

In 2007, John led the Mets with 180 strikeouts. He had 15 wins and 191 innings pitched for the year. Maine hurled seven innings of one-hit ball and got the win in a 10-0 Mets triumph over the Cardinals at St. Louis on April 4. At Florida on April 18, he allowed two hits in seven innings and got the win in the Mets’ 9-2 victory over the Marlins. John hurled seven and two-thirds innings for the win in a 6-1 Mets triumph over the Rockies at Shea on April 23. He pitches seven shutout innings and got the win in a 1-0 Mets victory over the Nationals at Washington on April 29. Maine fanned seven batters in six innings for the win in a 5-3 Mets triumph over the Diamondbacks at Arizona on May 4. He hurled seven and one-third innings and recorded the win in the Mets’ 8-1 triumph over the Twins on June 18 at Shea. At Philadelphia on June 29, John pitched eight innings for the win in a 5-2 Mets victory over the Phils that completed a doubleheader sweep. He recorded nine strikeouts and got the win in a 6-2 Mets triumph over the Astros at Houston on July 5. Maine had seven innings pitched for the win and hit a two-run homer as the Mets defeated the Pirates, 8-4, at Shea on July 24. He pitched a one-hitter (shortened to five innings by rain) in a 5-0 Mets victory over the Nationals at Shea on July 29. John had eight strikeouts in seven innings pitched and chalked up the win in a 7-3 Mets triumph over the Braves at Atlanta on August 31. He also struck out fourteen batters in seven and two-thirds innings of one-hit ball in the Mets’ 13-0 win over the Marlins on September 29 at Shea.

Maine recorded 122 strikeouts in 2008. He won ten games and hurled 140 innings during the season. John pitched six and two-thirds innings for the win in a 5-2 Mets victory over the Nationals at Shea on April 16. He allowed three hits in five innings and got the win in the Mets’ 4-3 victory over the Braves at Shea on April 26. Maine hurled six innings and got the win in a 7-2 Mets triumph over the Diamondbacks at Arizona on May 2. He pitched eight and one-third innings for the win in a 12-1 Mets rout of the Dodgers at Los Angeles on May 7. John pitched two-hit ball over six innings and chalked up the win in the Mets’ 6-3 triumph over the Nationals on May 13 at Shea. He had six strikeouts in six and two-thirds innings for the win in a 7-2 Mets triumph over the Rockies at Colorado on June 20. Maine pitched seven innings and recorded the win in the Mets’ 6-3 victory over the Phillies on July 23 at Shea. He also fanned six batters in five innings of one-hit ball for the win in a 12-0 Mets romp of the Nationals at Washington on August 13.

John had 81 and one-third innings pitched in 2009. He recorded seven wins and 55 strikeouts on the year. At Citi Field on April 27, Maine yielded only one hit over six innings for the win in the Mets’ 7-1 victory over the Marlins. He fanned seven hitters in six innings and got the win in a 6-4 Mets triumph over the Braves at Atlanta on May 4. John pitched six innings of three-hit ball and chalked up the win in a 10-1 Mets rout of the Pirates on May 9 at Citi Field. He hurled six innings for the win in a 5-2 Mets triumph over the Nationals at Citi Field on May 25. Maine had five strikeouts in six scoreless innings and was the winning pitcher as the Mets defeated the Marlins, 3-2, on May 31 at Citi Field. He pitched five innings of two-hit shutout ball and got the win in a 6-2 Mets victory over the Nationals at Citi Field on September 20. John also had seven innings pitched for the win in the Mets’ 7-1 triumph over the Astros on October 2 at Citi Field.

Maine appeared in nine games in 2010. He had a 1-3 won-lost record with 39 strikeouts for the season. John fanned nine batters and recorded his final win as a Met in the team’s 7-3 victory over the Dodgers at Citi Field on April 28. He also hurled six innings and got a no-decision in an eventual 5-4 Mets win over the Reds on May 4 at Cincinnati.

In 2011, Maine pitched in eleven games with the Rockies’ AAA-level team in Colorado Springs. He followed up with 16 games pitched for the Yankees’ AAA affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes Barre. John had seven and one-third innings pitched in four games with the Miami Marlins in 2013.
