Jeurys Familia

Jeurys Familia is a pitcher for the Mets. He joined the team in 2012.

Familia had spent five seasons in the Mets’ minor league system before his call up to the parent club. In ’12, he made his major league debut by pitching a scoreless eighth inning in the Mets’ 5-1 defeat to the Cardinals at St. Louis on September 4. Jeurys also recorded a save in a 7-5 Mets win over the Braves in 10 innings at Atlanta on May 3, 2013.

In 2014, Familia pitched a perfect ninth inning and got his first major league win in the Mets' 4-3 victory over the Marlins at Citi Field on April 25. He chalked up his first save and hit a single in a 5-0 Mets win over the Pirates on May 28 at Citi Field. Jeurys had two perfect innings in the Mets' 5-3 victory over the Pirates at Pittsburgh on June 28. He pitched a perfect eighth inning and got the win in a 5-4 Mets triumph over the Padres at San Diego on July 18. Familia hurled one and one-third perfect innings and had an RBI single in an 11-2 Mets win over the Phillies on July 30 at Citi Field. He pitched a scoreless 11th inning for a save in a 2-1 Mets victory over the Phillies at Philadelphia on August 9. Jeurys hurled one and two-thirds innings for a save in the Mets' 8-5 win over the Athletics at Oakland on August 20. He recorded a save in a 2-0 Mets triumph over the Rockies on September 9 at Citi Field.
