On the last day of August in 2010, the Mets made a deal with the Texas Rangers. Outfielder Jeff Francoeur was sent to the Lone Star State in exchange for second baseman Joaquin Arias. Since arriving from the Braves a year earlier, Francoeur was in the Mets' starting lineup 183 times among 199 games played for the team. Jeff batted .268 as a Met. Arias had a .286 batting average with 32 stolen bases in 91 career games with the Rangers.

Arias appeared in 22 games for the Mets over the rest of the 2010 season. Joaquin had 6 hits in 30 at bats and scored 5 runs. Francoeur hit .340 in 15 games for the Texas team en route to its 2010 American League West Division title. Jeff also appeared in nine games during the '10 post-season, three of which came in the World Series against the Giants.
