Dock Ellis was a pitcher for the Mets in 1979. He compiled 85 innings pitched in 17 games with the team. Ellis had three wins and 41 strikeouts as a Met.
Ellis came to the Mets in a trade with the Texas Rangers during the '79 season. He was the winning pitcher in a 12-5 Mets victory over the Dodgers at Shea Stadium on July 12. Dock pitched six innings and got the win in the Mets' 4-2 triumph over the Expos in the first game of a doubleheader at Montreal on August 5. He also had three scoreless innings of relief to get a win in a 3-2 Mets victory over the Pirates in 15 innings on September 8 at Shea.
