Easley came to the Mets as a free agent after fifteen seasons in the major leagues. In ’07, he had a .280 batting average with 10 homers and 26 runs batted in. At Shea Stadium on April 21, Damion hit a home run in the Mets' 7-2 victory over the Braves. He slugged a game-tying homer in the tenth inning in an eventual 2-1 Mets win over the Rockies in 11 on April 24 at Shea. Damion connected for a three-run homer in the ninth inning to put the Mets ahead to stay in a 9-4 triumph over the Diamondbacks at Arizona on May 3. He singled twice, homered and drove in four runs in a 9-1 Mets victory over the Brewers on May 13 at Shea. Easley had a pair of singles and an RBI in a 6-4 Mets win over the Marlins at Florida on May 27. He hit a two-run homer in the Mets’ 5-2 triumph over the Phillies in a doubleheader nightcap at Philadelphia on June 29. Damion had two singles and an inside-the-park two-run homer in a 12-4 Mets win over the Brewers at Milwaukee on August 2. He hit a run-scoring double in the Mets’ 10-8 triumph over the Pirates at Pittsburgh on August 15. Easley also homered in a 6-2 Mets win over the Nationals at Washington on August 17.
Easley appeared in 113 games in ’08. He accumulated 85 hits and 33 runs scored during the season. Damion had a run-scorin single that put the Mets ahead to stay in an 8-2 win over the Phillies at Shea on April 9. On June 3, he had two singles and a three-run double in the Mets’ 9-6 win at San Francisco. Easley homered in the 10th inning to give the Mets a 5-4 victory over the Angels in Anaheim on June 18. He had three singles and two runs scored in the Mets’ 9-4 win at Philadelphia on July 5. Damion singled three times, scored a run and had an RBI in a 6-3 Mets triumph over the Phils at Shea on July 23. At Philadelphia on August 26, he had two singles, a triple, a homer and three runs scored in an 8-7 Mets loss to the Phils. Easley had a double, a triple and a run scored in the Mets' 6-3 win over the Phillies in the second game of a doubleheader at Shea on September 7. He drove in two runs with a double in the Mets’ 10-8 victory over the Nationals on September 9 at Shea. Damion also drew a walk in the ninth inning of the Mets’ 4-2 defeat to the Marlins on September 28, making him the last player ever to get on base at Shea in the final plate appearance of his major league career.
