Received: Jesse Orosco

The Mets made a deal for an old favorite after the 1999 season. Relief pitcher Jesse Orosco was reacquired by the team after twelve seasons away from New York. Jesse was the Mets' ace reliever during their glory days of the 1980s. He recorded strikeouts to end the National League Championship Series and World Series of 1986. The Mets sent lefthanded pitcher Chuck McElroy to the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Orosco.

Jesse's second tenure with the Mets was extremely short-lived. He was dealt to the St. Louis Cardinals during Spring Training in 2000. The Mets received infielder Joe McEwing for Jesse in the transaction.

McElroy, who pitched in only 15 games for the Mets in '99, had a 4-2 won-lost record in 61 games with the Baltimore team in 2000 and 2001. Chuck posted a 4.97 earned run average for the Orioles.
