In ’08, Parnell appeared in six games with the Mets in September. He had a total of five innings pitched and three strikeouts on the year. In his major league debut on September 15, Bobby hurled a perfect eighth inning in the Mets’ 7-2 loss to the Nationals at Washington.
Parnell had eight starts and 60 relief appearances in 2009. He recorded four wins and a save during the season. At Citi Field on May 8, Bobby recorded two strikeouts in a perfect eighth inning and got his first major league win in the Mets’ 7-3 victory over the Pirates. He was the winning pitcher in a 7-4 Mets triumph over the Giants at San Francisco on May 14. Parnell hurled three scoreless innings for a save in the Mets’ 9-0 triumph over the Cardinals at Citi Field on August 5. He fanned seven batters in six shutout innings for the win in a 3-0 Mets victory over the Giants on August 14 at Citi Field. Bobby also pitched a perfect eighth inning and chalked up the win in a 6-5 Mets victory over the Florida Marlins in Miami on September 25.
In 2010, Parnell had a 2.83 earned run average in 41 games of pure relief. He struck out 33 batters for the season. In Bobby’s first appearance of the year on June 22, he fanned two batters in a scoreless eighth inning of the Mets’ 14-6 win over the Tigers at Citi Field. He struck out the side in a scoreless seventh in a 6-5 Mets defeat to the Detroit team two days later. Parnell retired all three batters in the eighth inning of the Mets’ 3-0 victory over the Braves at Citi Field on July 11. He had three strikeouts in two perfect innings in a 3-2 Mets triumph over the Astros on August 18 at Houston. Bobby also retired the side in order in the ninth inning to finish off the Mets’ 6-2 win over the Pirates at Citi Field on September 16.
Parnell compiled a 3.64 earned run average in 2011. He had four wins and six saves on the season. At Atlanta on June 15, Bobby struck out five batters in two scoreless innings and got the win in the Mets’ 4-0 victory over the Braves. He pitched a perfect 13th inning for the win in a 3-2 Mets triumph over the Athletics on June 22 at Citi Field. Parnell hurled a scoreless bottom of the ninth for a save in the Mets’ 7-4 win over the Phillies at Philadelphia on August 24. He recorded a save in a 2-1 Mets victory over the Marlins in a doubleheader opener at Citi Field on August 29. Bobby pitched a perfect ninth inning for a save in the Mets’ 8-6 comeback win over the Cardinals on September 22 at St. Louis. He also got the win in a 2-1 Mets triumph over the Phillies in the first game of a doubleheader at Citi Field on September 24.
Bobby led all Mets pitchers with 74 game appearances in 2012. He had five wins, seven saves and a 2.49 ERA during the year. At Citi Field on May 17, Parnell was the winning pitcher in the Mets’ 9-4 victory over the Reds. He set down the side in order in the ninth inning for a save in a 3-2 Mets win over the Dodgers at Los Angeles on June 28. Bobby struck out the side in the ninth for the save in the Mets’ 3-1 triumph over the Diamondbacks at Arizona on July 26. He recorded the win in a 2-1 Mets victory over the Astros on August 26 at Citi Field. Parnell hurled a pair of scoreless innings for the win in the Mets’ 9-5 triumph over the Phillies in 10 innings at Philadelphia on August 28. He also pitched a scoreless ninth inning for a save in a 4-2 Mets win over the Marlins in the season closer at Miami on October 3.
In 2013, Parnell pitched a scoreless 10th inning and got the win in the Mets' 7-3 victory over the Dodgers on April 24 at Citi Field. He hurled a perfect bottom of the ninth for a save in a 7-6 Mets triumph over the Marlins at Miami on May 1. Bobby chalked up the win in the Mets' 7-5 victory over the Braves in 10 innings at Atlanta on May 3. He was the winning pitcher in a 1-0 Mets triumph over the White Sox in 10 innings at Citi Field on May 7. Parnell pitched a scoreless ninth inning and got the win in the Mets' 3-2 victory over the Pirates at Citi Field on May 9.
