Barry Manuel

Barry Manuel was a pitcher for the Mets in 1997. He made 19 relief appearances for the team. Manuel had 21 strikeouts in 25 and two-thirds innings pitched as a Met.

Manuel came to the Mets from the Expos prior to the start of the '97 season. From April 7 to April 20, he pitched seven consecutive scoreless innings over five games. Barry had two shutout innings with three strikeouts in a 6-5 Mets loss at Florida on May 20. He also pitched a scoreless seventh inning in an 8-4 Mets defeat to the Red Sox on June 13 at Shea Stadium.

After the '97 season, Manuel joined the Diamondbacks' as a free agent. He pitched in 13 games for the Arizona team in 1998. Barry pitched for the Seibu Lions of Japan in 1999. He concluded his career in 2000 with the Lafayette Bullfrogs of the independent Texas-Louisiana League.
