1962: Charlie Neal hits a run-scoring single in the eighth inning for a 5-4 Mets win over the Giants at the Polo Grounds.

1965: The Mets sweep a doubleheader with 7-5 and 4-2 wins over the Cardinals at Shea Stadium. In the latter half of the twinbill, Tug McGraw pitches a complete game for his first major league win.

1972: Jim Beauchamp drives in all the Mets' runs with two singles and a homer in a 4-2 win over the Astros at Shea Stadium.

1973: For the second night in a row, John Milner singles home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Mets a victory over the Dodgers.

1976: Jon Matlack pitches a six-hit shutout in a 1-0 Mets win over the Padres at San Diego.

1977: Bruce Boisclair hits a two-run double in the seventh inning to give the Mets a 2-1 win over the Astros at Shea Stadium.

1981: Dave Kingman hits a grand slam in a 7-4 Mets victory over the Reds at Cincinnati. Dan Boitano gets his first win in the major leagues.

1985: Terry Leach pitches a three-hit shutout in a 7-0 Mets win over the Giants at Shea Stadium.

1991: The Mets defeat the Cardinals, 6-0, at Shea Stadium. The Mets get 13 hits in the game and three pitchers combine for a five-hit shutout.

1997: The Mets make two game-tying comebacks before defeating the Padres, 9-8, in 11 innings at Shea Stadium.

1998: Mike Piazza hits the Mets' only grand slam of the season in a 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks at Shea Stadium.

1999: Trailing 6-1 in the eighth inning, the Mets come back for an 8-7 win over the Cardinals in the first game of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium. St. Louis wins the second game, 7-5.


  • Carlos Beltran hits a home run in the bottom of the 9th to give the Mets an 8-7 win over the Cardinals. Carlos Delgado hits two home runs in the game, the second being a grand slam for the 400th homer of his career.
  • The Mets acquire Shawn Green from the Diamondbacks in exchange for Evan MacLane.

2008: The Mets begin a four-game series with a 3-0 win over the Astros at Shea Stadium.

2015: The Mets pound out twenty-one hits in a 14-9 win over the Rockies at Colorado.
