The Mets faced the Rockies on a Wednesday night at Citi Field. The teams played in front of 37,175 fans on hand. Jacob deGrom and two relievers teamed up for a three-hit shutout in a 3-0 Mets win over Colorado.

DeGrom and the Rockies' Jorge De La Rosa each started the game with three scoreless innings pitched. Jacob yielded only a single to Jose Reyes a walk to Michael McKenry while the Mets got nothing more that a walk to Travis d'Arnaud against De La Rosa. DeGrom hurled a perfect top of the fourth. To begin the bottom half, Juan Lagares singled and moved to second base on Curtis Granderson's ground out to first baseman Ben Paulsen. Yoenis Cespedes grounded out to third baseman Nolan Arenado and a double by Juan Uribe brought home Lagares. Michael Cuddyer singled to score Uribe for a 2-0 Mets lead. Cuddyer went to second on a wild pitch and Wilmer Flores drew a walk. De la Rosa then got d'Arnaud to hit a force play ground ball to shortstop Reyes for the inning's third out.

DJ LeMahieu hit a ground-rule double to open the top of the fifth. McKenry walked as LeMahieu stole third base and Brandon Barnes went down on strikes. A sacrifice bunt by De La Rosa's sent McKenry to second and Charlie Blackmon was struck out to end the inning. De La Rosa struck out the side in order in the bottom half and deGrom shut down the Mountain Men once again in the top of the sixth. Uribe got a two-out single in the bottom half. De La Rosa then got Cuddyer on a force play grounder to Reyes to close out the inning.

DeGrom fanned pinch-hitter Matt McBride for his tenth strikeout to end a perfect top of the seventh. Colorado reliever Christian Bergman gave up just a single to d'Arnaud in the bottom half and the Mets' Tyler Clippard set down the side in order in the top of the eighth. With two outs in the bottom of the inning, Cespedes slugged a homer for the Mets' third run of the game. Uribe drew a walk and Bergman retired Cuddyer on a pop-up to Reyes that finished off the inning.

Mets' reliever Jeurys Familia got Arenado on a fly ball to left fielder Cespedes to open the top of the ninth. Paulsen went down on strikes and LeMahieu singled for the Rockies' third hit. Familia then threw a called third strike past McKenry for the final out of the game. The Mets had a shutout victory.
