The Mets faced the Phillies on a Monday afternoon. A crowd of 43,947 was on hand at Citi Field for the Mets' home opener. Jacob deGrom and a trio of relievers teamed up for a shutout in a 2-0 Mets win over Philadelphia.

DeGrom and the Phils' Aaron Harang each pitched one-hit scoreless ball from the first inning to the third. Odubel Herrera got an infield single to open the top of the fourth. Chase Utley grounded to second baseman Daniel Murphy for a double play and a single by Ryan Howard ensued. Carlos Ruiz lined out to center fielder Juan Lagares to end the inning and Murphy doubled with one out in the bottom half. Daniel advanced to third base after Travis d'Arnaud's fly out to right fielder Grady Sizemore and scored on Lagares's infield single for a 1-0 Mets lead. Lagares stole second and moved to third via an error by catcher Ruiz. Harang then got Wilmer Flores on a line drive to center fielder Herrera for the inning's third out.

Cody Asche and Freddy Galvis got back-to-back singles with one out in the top of the fifth. Harang followed with a bunt on which deGrom threw to third baseman David Wright for an out on Asche. Ben Revere lined out to Lagares to end the inning and Harang set down the side in order in the bottom half. DeGrom surrendered only a walk to Utley in the top of the sixth and Michael Cuddyer got a one-out triple in the bottom half. Harang then retired both Murphy and d'Arnaud on infield pop-ups to close out the inning.

Asche and Galvis hit consecutive one-out singles against deGrom in the top of the seventh. Mets' reliever Carlos Torres got pinch-hitter Cesar Hernandez on a force play ground ball to Murphy. Torres threw a called third strike past Revere to end the inning and Flores singled against Philadelphia's Jeanmar Gomez with one out in the bottom half. Pinch-hitter Kirk Nieuwenhuis lined out to Herrera and a walk to Curtis Granderson followed. Gomez then struck out Wright to end the inning.

Mets' reliever Jerry Blevins hurled a perfect top of the eighth. Cuddyer singled with one out in the bottom half. Murphy reached on an error by second baseman Utley that allowed Cuddyer to move to third. D'Arnaud hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Cuddyer with the Mets' second run. Gomez then walked Lagares intentionally and retired Flores on a fly ball to Herrera that finished off the inning.

Ruiz drew a walk against Mets' reliever Jeurys Familia to lead off the top of the ninth. Sizemore followed with a double play grounder to first baseman Lucas Duda. Familia then got Asche to line out to Lagares and bring the game to an end. The Mets had a victory to start the home-half of the season.
