1962: In their first home game ever, the Mets lose to the Pirates, 4-3, at the Polo Grounds.

1967: Tom Seaver makes his first major league start. Seaver strikes out 8 batters in five and one-third innings and gets a no-decision in the Mets' 3-2 win over the Pirates at Shea Stadium.

1980: Pete Falcone and Neil Allen combine for a five-hit shutout as the Mets defeat the Cubs, 5-0, at Shea Stadium.

1982: The Mets defeat the Phillies, 5-2, in their first home game of the season.

1985: Darryl Strawberry hits a home run in the ninth inning for a 2-1 Mets win over the Reds at Shea Stadium.

1990: The Mets defeat the Expos, 4-1, in 10 innings at Montreal. Julio Machado gets his first major league win.

1991: Dwight Gooden strikes out fourteen batters in a 5-3 Mets win over the Expos at Shea Stadium. Gooden records the only stolen base of his career in the game.

1993: In their first game ever in Colorado, the Mets defeat the Rockies, 8-4, at Denver's Mile High Stadium.

2000: Mike Piazza hits an RBI double in the ninth inning for a 2-1 Mets win over the Phillies at Philadelphia.

2005: Jose Reyes singles home the winning run in the 11th inning for a 1-0 Mets victory over the Astros at Shea Stadium.

2006: The Mets complete a three-game series sweep with a 13-4 win over the Nationals at Washington.

2007: The Mets defeat the Nationals, 3-2, at Shea Stadium. The teams combine for twelve hits, all of which are singles.

2008: David Wright hits his 100th career homer in the Mets' 9-7 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

2009: The Mets lose to the Padres, 6-5, in the first regular season game at Citi Field. Brian Stokes in the losing pitcher for the Mets. David Wright hits the Mets' first homer at the new ballpark.

2012: The Mets score three runs in the first inning and come out with a 5-2 win over the Phillies at Philadelphia.

2013: Matt Harvey holds the Twins to two hits in eight innings for the win in a 4-2 Mets victory at Minnesota.

2015: The Mets defeat the Phillies, 2-0, in the home opener at Citi Field.
