The Mets faced the Braves on a Sunday afternoon in Atlanta. The teams played the finale of a three-game series. The Mets ended the Braves' season-opening, five-game winning streak with a 4-3 victory.

Lucas Duda got a two-out single against Braves' starter Alex Wood in the top of the first inning. Michael Cuddyer followed with a home run for a 2-0 Mets lead. John Mayberry singled and Anthony Recker drew a walk. Wood struck out Wilmer Flores to finish off the inning. The Mets' Bartolo Colon then set down the side in order in the bottom half.

Wood pitched a perfect top of the second. A. J. Pierzynski singled with one out in the bottom of the inning. Jonny Gomes hit a force play ground ball to second baseman Ruben Tejada and a single by Alberto Callaspo ensued. Andrelton Simmons connected for a triple that brought home Gomes and Callaspo, tying the game at 2-2. Colon then struck out Wood to end the inning.

Wood shut down the Mets in the top of the third. Colon retired all three batters in the bottom half and Flores doubled to begin the top of the fourth. Wilmer advanced to third base on Tejada's ground out to second baseman Jace Peterson and scored on Colon's single for a 3-2 Mets lead. Wood got Juan Lagares to hit a grounder to shortstop Simmons for an inning-ending double play. Colon then hurled a perfect bottom half.

After scoreless fifth and sixth innings, David Wright got a one-out single against Wood in the top of the seventh. Duda was struck out and Atlanta reliever Cody Martin threw a called third strike past Cuddyer to close out the inning. With one out in the bottom half, Gomes slugged a home run to tie the game at 3-3. Callaspo singled and Simmons lined out to left fielder Cuddyer. Colon then retired pinch-hitter Kelly Johnson on a ground ball to Tejada for the inning's third out.

Pinch-hitter Curtis Granderson drew a walk against Braves' reliever Juan Jaime to open the top of the eighth. Granderson stole second base and Recker walked. Flores's sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third before an intentional walk to Tejada loaded the bases. Against Atlanta's Andrew McKirahan, pinch-hitter Daniel Murphy hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Granderson and put the Mets ahead by a run. McKirahan got Lagares to pop out to Peterson and end the inning. New York's Carlos Torres and Jerry Blevins then combined to pitch a scoreless bottom half.

McKirahan gave up only a single to Duda in the top of the ninth. Blevins retired Pierzynski on a ground ball to Tejada to begin the bottom of the inning. Mets' reliever Jeurys Familia threw a called third strike past Gomes. Familia then got Philip Gosselin to fly out to center fielder Lagares and bring the game to an end. The Mets had a win to halt the Braves' streak and conclude their own season-starting road trip.
