Warren Spahn

Warren Spahn was a pitcher and coach for the Mets in 1965. He pitched in 20 games with the team. Spahn recorded four wins and 56 strikeouts as a Met.
After a standout 20-season career with the Boston/Milwaukee Braves, Spahn joined the Mets in November of 1964. In '65, he pitched 126 innings and five complete games over a three-month period. At Los Angeles on April 20, Warren pitched all nine innings of the Mets' 3-2 victory over the Dodgers. He had a complete game in a 4-3 Mets win over the Giants on April 25 at San Francisco. Spahn got the win in the Mets' 8-5 triumph over the Reds that completed a doubleheader sweep at Shea Stadium on May 16. He also pitched a complete game and singled home a run in a 6-2 Mets victory in a doubleheader opener at Philadelphia on May 24.
On July 22, 1965, Spahn was released by the Mets. He completed the season - and his career - with the Giants. Warren was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973.
