Wilmer David “Vinegar Bend” Mizell was a pitcher for the Mets in 1962. He appeared in 17 games with the team. Mizell had 15 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched as a Met.

Mizell joined the Mets in a trade with the Pirates on May 6, 1962. He pitched a pair of perfect innings against his former team in the Mets’ 13-3 loss at Pittsburgh on June 25. Vinegar Bend had two scoreless innings in a 17-3 Mets loss to the Dodgers at the Polo Grounds on July 14. He was released by the Mets on August 4, ending his nine-season major league career.
