Vince Coleman was an outfielder for the Mets from 1991 to 1993. He had a .270 batting average in 235 games in his three seasons with the team. Coleman had 99 stolen bases and 146 runs scored as a Met.

Coleman came to the Mets after six outstanding seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1991, he led the team with 5 triples and 37 stolen bases. At Montreal on April 21, Vince had two singles, a triple and a stolen base in the Mets' 9-5 win. He stole three bases and scored a run in a 2-0 Mets victory over the Pirates at Shea Stadium on April 26. Coleman singled, tripled and scored twice in the Mets' 8-1 triumph at Chicago on May 29. He had three singles and two runs scored in a 10-5 Mets win on May 31 at St. Louis. Vince also singled four times and scored two runs in the Mets' 5-1 win at Los Angeles on July 29.

In 1992, Coleman batted .275 in 75 games played. He had 63 hits for 82 total bases during the season. Vince had three singles, two runs scored and a stolen base in the Mets' 14-1 win over the Giants on June 1 at Shea. He doubled and singled twice in a 6-5 Mets victory at Montreal on June 9. Coleman hit a run-scoring single in the ninth inning to give the Mets a 4-3 win over the Cardinals on June 19 at Shea. He had a double, three singles and two RBIs in a 3-0 Mets victory over the Cubs in the first game of a doubleheader at Shea on August 1. Vince had a two-run single and two runs scored in the Mets' 6-5 win over the Reds on August 29 at Shea.

Coleman batted .279 in 1993. He had a team-leading 38 stolen bases and scored 64 runs for the year. In the season opener at Shea on April 5, Vince singled twice, stole a base and scored a run in the Mets' 3-0 win over the Rockies. He had four stolen bases in a 4-3 Mets loss to the Expos at Shea on June 23. Coleman had three singles, two stolen bases, two runs scored and two RBIs in the Mets' 7-1 victory on June 30 at Florida. He also had four singles and a run scored in a 3-1 Mets win at San Francisco on July 17.

On January 5, 1994, Coleman was traded to the Royals for Kevin McReynolds. He played 179 games with the Kansas City team in 1994 and 1995. Vince completed the '95 season with the Seattle Mariners. He played for the Reds in 1996 and ended his career with the Tigers in 1997.
