Tracy Stallard

Tracy Stallard was a pitcher for the Mets in 1963 and 1964. He pitched 380 and one-third innings in 75 games as a member of the team. Tracy recorded 16 wins and 228 strikeouts during his two seasons with the Mets.

Stallard came to the Mets with Pumpsie Green and Al Moran from the Boston Red Sox in a trade for Felix Mantilla on December 11, 1962. In the 1963 season, he was the starting pitcher in 23 of his 39 game appearances. Tracy had a complete game win in the Mets' 3-2 triumph over the Reds at the Polo Grounds on June 10. At Cincinnati five days later, he defeated the Reds again with a route-going 4-1 Mets victory. Stallard pitched a complete game for the win in a 5-1 Mets triumph at Los Angeles on July 30. In the Mets' 10-3 triumph over the Cardinals on August 7, he hurled all nine innings and allowed six hits in getting the win.

In 1964, Stallard led the Mets with 34 games started, 11 complete games and 118 strikeouts. For the season, he pitched 225 and two-thirds innings and recorded 10 wins. Tracy pitched a complete game in the Mets' 11-3 win at Philadelphia on June 12. In this game, he singled home a run for his only RBI of the year. Nine days later, he was on the losing end of a perfect game by the Phillies' Jim Bunning at Shea Stadium. On Old Timers Day at Shea on July 25, Stallard pitched a three-hit shutout as the Mets defeated the Milwaukee Braves, 10-0.

Tracy had a single and a double in a 4-2 complete game win over the Pirates on August 19, 1964. On August 26, he went all the way for a 3-1 Mets win at Cincinnati. Stallard also struck out ten batters in pitching a 4-0 shutout at San Francisco on September 16.

On December 8, 1964, Stallard was dealt with Elio Chacon to the Cardinals for Johnny Lewis and Gordon Richardson. Tracy pitched 60 games for the Cards in 1965 and 1966 to conclude his career.
