Tony Fernandez

Tony Fernandez was a shortstop for the Mets in 1993. He played in 48 games with the team. Fernandez had 39 hits for 51 total bases as a Met.
Fernandez came to the Mets in a trade with the Padres in October of 1992. In ’93, he began the season as the team’s regular shortstop. At Shea Stadium on April 7, Tony had a two-run single in the Mets’ 6-1 win over the Rockies. He had two singles and a run scored in an 8-4 Mets victory at Colorado on April 13. Fernandez singled, doubled and scored twice in the Mets’ 10-0 win over the Giants on April 21 at Shea. He also had three singles and a run scored in an 11-3 Mets triumph at Chicago on June 2.
On June 11, 1993, Fernandez was traded to the Blue Jays. He played regularly for the Toronto team during its second consecutive World Championship. Tony continued to play in the major leagues until 2001.
