Tommy Moore was a pitcher for the Mets in 1972 and 1973. He pitched in six games and made one pinch-running appearance for the team. Moore had a 4.60 earned run average and 6 strikeouts as a Met.
Moore made two relief appearances for the Mets before his first major league start at Montreal on October 2, 1972. In the game, he pitched seven shutout innings and got a no-decision as the Mets defeated the Expos, 2-1, in the second game of a doubleheader. Tommy singled and scored a run in the game.
In '73, Moore pitched an inning of relief against the Cardinals at Shea Stadium on May 22 and at Los Angeles on May 26, both of which were Mets losses. He was the losing pitcher in a 6-5 Mets defeat at San Francisco in his only start of the season on May 28. As a pinch-runner on June 3, Tommy scored a run in the Mets' 9-2 win over the Padres at San Diego.
After spending the 1974 season in the minor leagues, Moore was traded with Ray Sadecki to the St. Louis Cardinals for Joe Torre. He pitched a total of 22 games for the Cardinals and Texas Rangers in 1975. Tommy ended his career with 14 games for the original Seattle Mariners in 1977.
