Tommy Herr

Tommy Herr was a second baseman for the Mets in 1990 and 1991. He played in 97 games with the team. Herr had 55 hits and 24 runs batted in as a Met.
Herr joined the Mets in a trade with the Phillies on August 30, 1990. Over the rest of the season, he had 33 total bases and a .250 batting average. Tommy singled and homered in his first Mets game on September 1 as the team defeated the Giants, 6-5, at Shea Stadium. At St. Louis on September 3, he had a single, two doubles and a pair of runs scored in the Mets' 9-3 win over the Cardinals. Herr had a two-run single in a 12-2 Mets victory at Philadelphia on September 8. He also singled to drive home a run in the Mets' 7-1 win over the Cubs on September 28 at Shea.
In 1991, Herr had 30 hits and 17 runs scored with the Mets. He singled, doubled and hit a sacrifice fly in a 6-3 Mets win over the Expos on April 11 at Shea. At San Francisco on May 11, Tommy had three singles, a home run and three RBIs in the Mets' 6-2 victory over the Giants. He singled and scored the Mets' first run of a 5-0 win over the Phillies at Shea on June 29. Herr also had a single and a double in the Mets' 4-2 triumph at Montreal on July 1.
Herr was released by the Mets on August 5, 1991. He completed the '91 season with the Giants to conclude his 13-year major league career.
