Tom Veryzer

Tom Veryzer was a second baseman and shortstop for the Mets in 1982. He played in 40 games with the team. Veryzer batted .333 with four runs batted in as a Met.
After nine seasons with the Tigers and Indians, Veryzer joined the Mets in '82. At San Francisco on May 2, he got three singles in a 4-3 Mets loss to the Giants in the first game of a doubleheader. Tom had a run-scoring single and an RBI in the Mets' 13-4 win over the Dodgers at Shea Stadium on May 16. One day later, he singled and doubled in a 7-2 Mets loss to the Reds at Shea. Veryzer drove in two runs with a single and a sacrifice fly in a 9-5 Mets victory over the Astros at Shea on May 30. He also had two singles, an RBI and a run scored in a 10-4 Mets win over the Braves on May 31 at Shea.
In June of '82, Veryzer suffered a fractured left leg and missed three months of the season. He came back to play in four games for the Mets in September. Tom was hitless in five at bats following his time on the disabled list.
Veryzer was traded to the Chicago Cubs in April of 1983. He played in 103 games for the Cubs over the next two seasons to conclude his career.
