Tom Sturdivant

Tom Sturdivant was a pitcher for the Mets in 1964. He made 16 relief appearances for the team. Sturdivant had 18 strikeouts in 28 and two-thirds innings pitched as a Met.

In '64, Sturdivant was signed by the Mets as a free agent during his ninth major league season. At Shea Stadium on May 14, he held the Braves scoreless and hitless with four strikeouts over two and two-thirds innings in a 12-4 Mets victory. Tom had a total of four and two-thirds scoreless innings in the both games of a doubleheader against the Giants (the second of which the Mets lost in 23 innings) on May 31. He also had three strikeouts in three shutout innings of a 6-0 Mets loss to the Phillies (a perfect game by Jim Bunning) in the opener of a twinbill on June 21 at Shea.

On June 27, 1964, Sturdivant was released by the Mets.
