Tom Spencer

Tom Spencer was a coach for the Mets in 1991. He served under managers Bud Harrelson and Mike Cubbage in his lone season on the team's staff.

As a player, Spencer was a minor league outfielder from 1970 to 1981. He also played in 29 games for the White Sox during the 1978 season. Tom served as a manager in the minor league systems of the Astros and Cubs during the 1980s. He also spent two years on the Indians' coaching staff and managed the Giants' A-level team in San Jose in 1990.

After his departure from the Mets, Spencer was a coach for the Astros in 1992 and 1993. He later returned to minor league managing. Tom skippered in the White Sox, Diamondbacks and Cardinals systems in the 1990s and 2000s. In 2011, he was the manager of the Astros' A-level team in Lancaster, California.
