Tom Parsons was a pitcher for the Mets in 1964 and 1965. He appeared in 39 games with the team, 13 of which were as a starter. Parsons won two games and recorded 68 strikeouts as a Met.

After one game with the Pirates in 1963, Parsons joined the Mets organization. He made his Mets debut in '64 with two scoreless innings of relief at San Francisco on September 15. At St. Louis on October 3, Tom got his first major league win as the Mets defeated the Cardinals, 15-5.

In 1965, Parsons pitched 90 and two-thirds innings for the Mets in his first full major league season. His only win of the year was a complete game shutout for a 3-0 Mets win over the Cubs in the second game of a doubleheader at Shea Stadium on July 5. This victory gave the Mets a sweep of the twinbill. Tom lost each of his next six decisions and finished the season with a 1-10 won-lost record.

On November 24, 1965, Parsons was sent to the Houston Astros to complete an earlier trade for catcher Jerry Grote. He pitched three seasons in the Houston system, but never appeared in a game with the Astros. Tom ended his career with the Red Sox' AA-level team in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in 1969.
