Tom Grieve

Tom Grieve was an outfielder for the Mets in 1978. He played in 54 games with the team. Grieve had 21 hits and eight runs batted in as a Met.
Grieve came to the Mets from the Texas Rangers in a trade involving four teams in December of 1977. In '78, he collected 30 total bases in his only season in New York. At Montreal on April 14, Tom hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning before the Mets went on to a 3-2 win in 10 over the Expos. He had a run-scoring single in a 3-2 Mets victory over the Padres on June 3 at Shea Stadium. Grieve homered in a 9-8 Mets loss at Chicago on June 28. He also had a two-run single in the Mets' 7-4 win in the second game of a doubleheader at Atlanta on July 17.
Grieve was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals for Pete Falcone on December 5, 1978. He ended his playing career with the Redbirds in 1979. Grieve returned to the Rangers to become a television broadcaster in 1980. From 1984 to 1994, he served as the Rangers' general manager.
