Tom Filer

Tom Filer was a pitcher for the Mets in 1992. He appeared in nine games with the team. Filer had a 2.05 earned run average as a Met.
Filer had pitched for the Cubs, Blue Jays and Brewers over five major league seasons. In ’92, he joined the Mets from their AAA-level Tidewater team in Norfolk, Virginia. In his debut with the team on July 4, Tom had four strikeouts over seven innings pitched in the Mets eventual 3-1 loss to the Astros in a doubleheader nightcap at Shea Stadium. He pitched two innings of relief in a 5-2 Mets win over the Dodgers at Shea on July 21. In his final major league appearance on August 7, Tom pitched a scoreless eighth inning in a 9-1 Mets defeat at Chicago.
In 1993, Filer pitched in 22 games for the (renamed) Norfolk Tides to conclude his career.
