Todd Zeile

Todd Zeile played for the Mets in the 2000, 2001 and 2004 seasons. He hit .259 with 41 homers and 176 runs batted in during his years with the Mets.
Todd played for 11 teams during his major league career. It was with the Mets that he reached his only World Series in 2000. Zeile hit 22 homers (including two in one game on May 27) in a team-leading 153 games played for the season. Todd hit a game-winning, two-run double for a 10-8 Mets victory over the Pirates at Shea Stadium on June 24. He homered in the Mets' 2-0 win over the Yankees on July 9 at Shea. On September 5, Zeile homered in the tenth inning to give the Mets a 3-2 win at Cincinnati. He also batted .368 with a home run in the National League Championship Series against the Cardinals. In the World Series, Todd hit .400 against the Yankees.
In 2001, Zeile led the Mets with 151 games played and 105 singles. He also had 36 extra-base hits (25 doubles, 1 triple, 10 home runs) and 62 runs batted in. At Shea on May 25, Todd hit a three-run homer in a 4-3 Mets win over the Marlins in 10 innings. He also drove in all the Mets' runs in the 3-1 Mets' win over the Braves in Atlanta on June 29 with a single and his only triple of the season.
After two seasons with other teams, Zeile completed his career with the Mets in 2004. He batted .233 for the season in 137 games played. At San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 9, Todd hit a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning for a 3-2 Mets win over the Montreal Expos. On June 2, he hit a game-tying, three-run homer in the eighth inning and a game-winning, two-run homer in the tenth to give the Mets a 5-3 win over the Phillies. Zeile also hit a three-run homer in his last major league at bat in the Mets' 8-1 win over the Expos on October 3. This homer was the last one ever hit against the Montreal team before its relocation to Washington, D.C.
Notes
- Todd's wife is former American gymnast Julianne McNamara. In the 1984 Olympics, Julianne won silver medals in the team competition and the floor exercise. She also tied for the gold medal on the uneven bars.
