Tim Spehr

Tim Spehr was a catcher for the Mets in 1998. He played in 21 games with the team. Spehr had seven hits and three runs batted in as a Met.
In '98, Spehr joined the Mets after seven seasons with the Royals, Expos and Braves. He had two singles in a 1-0 Mets win over the Phillies in 14 innings in the season opener at Shea Stadium on March 31. Tim had a run-scoring double in the Mets' 2-1 victory over the Pirates on April 3 at Shea. One day later, he had a single and a run scored in a 7-6 Mets win over the Pirates in 13 innings. Spehr also singled to drive home two runs in the Mets' 14-0 victory at Cincinnati on April 19.
Spehr suffered a fractured left wrist that had him on the disabled list from May 5 to August 27. He was later sold back to the Royals, with whom he played until the end of the 1999 season. Tim ended his career in the minor leagues in 2001.
