Tim Burke was a relief pitcher for the Mets in 1991 and 1992. He pitched in 50 games and had a 3.41 earned run average. Burke recorded four wins and one save as a Met.
Burke came to the Mets from the Expos in a trade for Ron Darling and Mike Thomas on July 15, 1991. He pitched 55 and two-thirds innings for the team over the rest of the '91 season. At Shea Stadium on July 19, Tim got his first Mets win in a 6-2 victory over the Dodgers. He recorded his only save as a Met with three scoreless innings in the team's 6-0 triumph over the Cardinals at Shea on August 22. Burke pitched two shutout innings and got the win in a 4-2 Mets victory in 10 innings on September 13 at St. Louis. He was also the winning pitcher in the Mets' 2-1 win over the Pirates in the second game of a doubleheader at Shea on September 26.
In 1992, Burke made 15 relief appearances for the Mets. He got credit for the win in the Mets' 8-7 triumph at Atlanta on May 1. On June 9, Tim was traded to the Yankees for pitcher Lee Guetterman. He ended his career after the '92 season.
