William Grant "Sheriff" Robinson was a coaching staff member for the Mets. He served with the team from 1964 to 1967. Robinson was also a Mets coach in 1972.

After ten seasons as a minor league manager, Robinson led the Mets' Class D team in Quincy, Illinois in 1963. He became the bullpen coach for the parent club the following year. Coaching under Casey Stengel, Sheriff had his first major league experience of any kind. After beginning the 1965 season as manager at AAA-level Buffalo, Robinson returned to the Mets' staff and remained for another two and one-half years.

Robinson became a scout for the Mets after the '67 season. He continued in this role for four years before rejoining the team's staff in 1972. Sheriff replaced Yogi Berra as the Mets' first base coach when Berra took over as manager after the death of Gil Hodges. Following the '72 season, Robinson returned to scouting for the Mets.
